Company History

Thomas Hicks, founder, chairman and chief executive officer of Hicks Holdings, LLC, has been in the private equity business for 35 years. He was the co-founder of Hicks & Haas, one of the most successful private equity firms of the 1980’s, where he pioneered the “buy and build” strategy of investing. Mr. Hicks later co-founded Hicks, Muse, Tate, & Furst, Incorporated, where he and the HMTF team raised more than $12 billion of private equity across six funds and completed $50 billion of leveraged acquisitions.

Since January 2005, Mr. Hicks has led Hicks Holdings, LLC, a holding company for the Hicks Family's sports, real estate and private equity investments, including the National Hockey League's Dallas Stars, purchased in December 1995, Major League Baseball's Texas Rangers, acquired in June 1998, and a 50% interest in the English Premier League's Liverpool Football Club, acquired in March 2007.

Hicks Trans American Partners, a subsidiary of Hicks Holdings, is the controlling shareholder of Grupo Pilar S.A., a leading pet food and animal feed company in Argentina acquired in 2006 and merged with Alimentos Pilar S.A. which was acquired from Heinz, Inc. In addition, since 2006 Hicks Trans American Partners is pursuing three residential and hotel developments in Argentine Patagonia, including Dos Valles Club de Campo and the Jack Nicklaus Golf Club of Patagonia, in Bariloche, and El Desafío Mountain Resort in San Martín de los Andes; as well as a real estate investment in Cafayate, Northern Argentina.
